Diving in the Maldives

The Maldives is often referred to as a diver's paradise: nothing could be further from the truth. It's almost as if nature created the country and its 26 atolls for underwater exploration! Between the protected coral reefs, where you can admire mantas, and the multitude of passes that attract schools of fish and sharks, it's hard to get bored. Not to mention the fact that some of the atolls in the Deep South and Far North have only recently been explored, and have yet to reveal their full richness... A diving cruise is the ideal way to discover the archipelago's most beautiful sites.

All species of tropical fish, as well as a wide variety of corals and invertebrates, can be found in the Maldives. Dives with turtles, sharks and rays are common. Chances of encountering a whale shark are high all year round. Particularly along the outer reef of Ari Sud atoll and in Hanifaru Bay.

When should you go diving in the Maldives?

The best season for a dive cruise in the Maldives is from August to May. High season is from December to April.

During these 9 months, current and visibility conditions vary. This is why the itinerary of your Maldives dive cruise is adapted to observe a maximum number of species. In particular, manta rays and whale sharks that follow the plankton concentrations.

In February and March, the weather and diving conditions are perfect. It's "the best of the best" for a Maldives dive cruise!
Visibility will be very good in the eastern passes, with an ever-returning current. These are ideal conditions for observing the pelagic fauna that concentrates here (reef sharks, grey sharks, eagle rays, barracudas, jacks...).

To the west of the atolls, the mantas gather to monitor plankton concentrations. You'll dive next to the cleaning stations to follow the sweeps of manta rays. And you'll frequently encounter whale sharks outside the atolls.
